i started to update my mod a bit late and cant find the new way to do textures can someone tell me how ? or link me to a previous thread that i missed please?

i know that i am looking through all the ones that i can find, this thread is the ones that i cannot or have not yet found solutions to.

 

There is only three things that i cant find how to update or what i have to change;

1)

GL11.glBindTexture(GL11.GL_TEXTURE_2D, Minecraft.getMinecraft().renderEngine.getTexture("%blur%/armor/DivingHelmetblur.png"));

the error is under .gettexture and the error is that the method is undefined for texture manager

2)

this.loadTexture("/gui/items.png");

the error is under this.loadTexture and the error is that the method is undefined for the type render (entityName)

3)

public class (entityName)

the type (entityName) must implement the inherited abstract method Render.func_110775_a

 

i don't know how to fix the first two and i cant find the answer and i have tried and still am, but i presume the third one means i am missing a functio to do with entities so i am going to start looking for that now, will update this if i find any fixes.

Mate, number 3 is BASIC JAVA and by basic i mean inheritance basics, which are basic not only to java but to all object oriented programming! Are you so unfamilar with the most basics of java and oop you should really spend a day on these first!

I got this place courses.vswe.se as a recommended place for you to start, really I'm not meaning to sound arrogant or mean.

It's just that without knowing these things you will be struggling so much more than you need to, and waste a lot of your time on simple things!

 

The courses also would help you with the first one although I searched 1 google search just now and I found the answers to be there just like the 100 other times people have asked this! So try googling

 

The second one is a bit less common, but heres a post about it which you should read as it also includes answer to number 1, between the code lines. Anyways post #7 has the answer to your question #2

I recall you from a few months back btw, welcome back on the boards

I know you like examples, that's why I really do recommend those courses.

And it's not just begging stuff, I swear!

 

He shows everything from the ground up and you should start at the first course (coding and a cup of Java) as he builds upon this knowledge in the future courses! And knowing all this makes your life so much easier!

 

You want to learn advance stuff too?

I'm sure you want to!

Start at the beggining and by the end of them you will know how to create animated custom models in minecraft! You will also learn to make advance GUI's with sliders, tabs and model rendering inside! And of course you will learn a lot about TileEntities!

@mazetar, take it easy, have you ever spend some time on minecraftforums>mods>request ? if not i recommend you read the first few post. these people are ignorant and impolite. at least people on the board underatand that it takes some work to get a mod doneand most of them  are willing to learn(even though for some of them "learn" = "copy paste")

at least op demonstrate that he is able to search  for answers, he makes a mention to glBindTexture which i have rarely seen metionned elsewhere (glBindTextureis the method called by TextureManager btw )

the real question is, op why do you need getTexture ?

glBindTexture as far as I recall is used in the older tutorials I have seen.

And I'm NOT going to argue with you about how's and what's about a gl method (I know better than that )

Number 3:

If you mouse over the error, Eclipse will give you a list of quickfixes.

Choose to implement the missing method.

This will create a new method which follows the rules for how it must be.

it's created in the bottom of the file, so scroll down and you will find it.

Change the return null; to return the ResourceLocation for your texture.

 

 

Also for hydroflame, could you post a bit of information about what you are trying to do and the file you are working on?

and im still having trouble with one its not an error anymore but i cant get the texture to load i just get the purple and black square now, which means i am locating the texture wrong i think because otherwise it works fine.

my textures are locating the the src folder. i know lots of people confuse the path and such so incase i did that here is the path that the png's properties say it has "/Minecraft/src/assets/ashtonsmod/textures/overlays/MiningHelmetOverlay.png"

i have tried this and a number of other locations in the "" where the texture location is meant to go, am i miles off or have i just made a stupid mistake somewhere???

1) that is because there is no method called loadTexture in the the renderdagger class, or any of its super classes. (The class it extends and the one it extends etc.

ok so the item works but when throw renders a s a white cube

no errors any more just bugs! and this is the only one i cant fix .

ok so the item works but when throw renders a s a white cube

no errors any more just bugs! and this is the only one i cant fix .
