i tried making a new server but it only makes run.sh files i need the jar files since im using a host that is dumb

i found the way it was i had to select some goofy button to make it forge

I have the same "problem" in the sense that my host offers forge installation, but for a fee or let us do a manual install using a .jar file.

So related to this, can I make a .jar file myself or is this not recommended ? Not asking how to do it, but if 1. I have the right to do so and 2. if I will really break everything. (I suppose there are  good reasons for not having a .jar file anymore)

This also means that this section of the EAQ is outdated :

How do I set up a Forge server?
Follow steps 1-3 of "How do I install Forge". Choose the "Install Server", select an empty directory and click "Ok".
The generated server installation operates like a normal Minecraft server, except that you must run the forge-xxx.jar file instead of minecraft_server.xxx.jar.
Do not rename the generated files, it will break your installation.

Thanks in advance for your answers !

The server must be start via the generated .bat/.sh file, if you server host does not support these new system you need to talk to them or change your server host.
