Posted November 11, 201311 yr Hi, I wanted to start modding Minecraft, but saw that there is not yet the 1.7 version, ans that the dev team changed a lot of code so it will take time to desobfuscate it. So I'm wondering, should I start on 1.6.x anyway, or wait ? I'm affraid that considering the code has been refactored, it would be a waste of time to learn how to mod 1.6 first. Any thoughts ?
November 11, 201311 yr Get started with 1.6.4, get the hang of how things work, do small mods, put a hold on your Big Plans (you'll have to anyway, but you might as well get started learning now, yah?) Forge isn't going to be ready for 1.7 for a while yet, as MCP needs to be updated; lots of changes making all previous deobfuscation translations unhelpful. (Side note: http://mcp.ocean-labs.de/news.php?extend.10.1 ) Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
November 14, 201311 yr Can't hurt to play around with 1.6.4 and start to get the hang of it. While there will probably be huge changes, just getting the hang of modding and learning java is worth it.
