Hey there! I primarily use Spoutcraft, I love and crave the customization of textures and shapes, so that I can further increase the immersion/realism of my adventure course that I'm building.

However.. I recently discovered the capabilities of forge mods and I'm completely torn up. I don't know if I can, and how tedious it will be to add all the custom blocks and .shapefiles that I have. There's over a thousand that I use from .smp files from the community and myself, but I also wonder if I'm allowed to import them and use them in forge :(

I've seen custom shapefiles in some available mods - is it tedious to add custom shapefiles and lots of custom blocks? How would I go about this? I hope it's not difficult. What forge mods offer is just waay too much awesomeness to just pass up.

Short answer: No, it's impossible. You pick, Forge or spout.

Long answer:

Forge and spoutcraft are completely different APIs. It's like pulling Martians off their planet and expecting them to live on Earth like everyone else. So no, it can't be done, unless someone writes a forge compat layer for spoutcraft.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

Darn, thankyou for the response :)

So I have to pick either super cool mods that affect gameplay or super cool visual mods

awww MAAAAAAAAN

I see some mods with custom mob and block shapes.. so there is a way to do it, but I'm guessing it isn't easy..

There is a custom model loader in Forge (AdvancedModelLoader), but it certainly doesn't work with files from spoutcraft.

How about .shape files made by me? Just generic ones. Or is it another format?

I don't expect to be able to shove all the .smp files into forge and have it work - I understand that bit :)

just wondering how difficult it is to bring back in all those textures and shapes manually.

whoa whoa :o

what's this! AWESOME!

*EDIT*

Will the current addons come with it? Or will I need to install them manually.. and where would I do that? This is so new to me!

Oh and am I running spoutcraft through the technic launcher like normal for this?

(THANKYOU BTW!!!!)
