Minecraft crashes after installing mod. Any suggestions please. I'm new to this.

Hi,

I'm new to loading mods in Minecraft.  Have tried to install the Superheroes Unlimited Mod V2.3.3.zip mod.

Installed Forge 1.7.2-10.12.0.1019.  However minecraft crashed.

Minecraft opens Ok if the superheroes file is not there (and there is a mods button on the home screen).  But crashes when the zip file is copied to the mods directory.  Are there incompatibility issues or have I made a "beginner" error?

Can you please suggest any solutions.

Thanks in advance......(crash report below).

Make sure the mods you are installing are for the version of minecraft you're running.

The mod you're installing is NOT for 1.7.2 as ModLoder doesn't exist for 1.7.2 and we do not support it anymore.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Thanks LexManos for the comment.  I found out the mod was for 1.6.2 so installed an old forge for it.  Now it works.

Much appreciated and thanks for your time.

I had the same problem -- there were a couple of websites with reviews of the mod that inaccurately list it among mods that are compatible with 1.7.2  (even 1.7.4).

    • Thanks, I've now installed a slightly newer version and the server is at least starting up now.

    • The crash points to moonlight lib - try other builds or make a test without this mod and the mods requiring it
    • Do you have shaders enabled? There is an issue with the mod simpleclouds - remove this mod or disable shaders, if enabled
    • Maybe you need to create file in assets/<modid>/items/<itemname>.json with content like this:   { "model": { "type": "minecraft:model", "model": "modname:item/itemname" } }
