When I double clicked install.cmd, Open Terminal said it was downloading something but it wasn't doing anything. It didn't download anything and most importantly it didn't download mcp. I have a Mac.

If you can help, I would be SOOOO grateful.

Thank you.

Don't use the python system.

Move to 1.7 and the gradle system.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

as much as I would like to move to 1.7, much of that platform is not finished and few of the plugins are on that platform.

is there an alternative that would allow us to stay on 1.6.4 for the time being?

Build 964 uses ForgeGradle and is 1.6 compatible.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

What do you mean by logs? Do I just copy/paste what Terminal was "saying"?

there is a log file in your gradle folder, make sure you run with -debug.

I tried to install forge src again and it worked this time. I still don't know why it didn't download stuff before.

I ran "gradlew" and it downloaded everything but I don't know what to do now. README.txt says that I have to run gradle eclipse or gradle idea but I don't see them anywhere.

I opened the command line (Open Terminal). I typed gradlew setupDecompWorkspace but Terminal said it doesn't know about a command called "gradlew".

Open Terminal. Change your directory to the Forge folder. Since you are on a mac, type ./gradlew setupDecompWorkspace followed by ./gradlew Eclipse.

I tried doing what you told me but it still doesn't work. I will tell you everything I did so you guys can tell me what I am doing wrong.

This is what I did: 1. Run "gradlew" from the forge folder.

                          2. When Terminal is finished, try typing in the same Terminal window. It doesn't work so I make a new Terminal

                              window.

                          3. Doing "cd /Users/_______/Downloads/forge-1".

                          4. Try doing "gradlew setupDecompWorkspace". This part doesn't work. It says: "gradlew: command not found".

I think it works now I just got one problem. When it finished the ./gradlew setupdecompWorkspace it said: "1 warning :repack forge :setupDecompWorkspace".

Also, what do I do now to start coding?

  • Author

I did it YAY! :D

Now, to start changing what i want to change in the Minecraft code, do I have to find that part of the code? If so, can you send me a link to where I can get more "familiar" with the coding or do I just go to the minecraft forge wiki?

I know nothing about coding. A tutorial on how to use forge would be useful for me.

I figured I don't know anything about using forge. If it's not too much to ask, can you gig me a link to how to use it?
