Posted July 12, 201411 yr Basically I want to know how I could check whether a player is in creative or not and use it within an if statement. Mainly need this because one of my blocks drops it's drop in creative upon being broken. Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server. July 12, 201411 yr Author Check player.capabilities.isCreativeMode. Hmm.. Guessing you mean PlayerCapabilities.isCreativeMode... But how so. Because I know it would never work in an if statement due to certain reasons. Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server. Also Currently porting the "Rise of the Automatons" minecraft mod
July 12, 201411 yr No, I mean an instance of EntityPlayer called player. player.capabilities.isCreativeMode returns a boolean value of true is the player is in creative. Take a look at the wolf interact method if you want to see an example of it being used in an if statement.
July 12, 201411 yr A boolean would never work in an if -statement due to reasons? Please enlighten us
July 12, 201411 yr Author A boolean would never work in an if -statement due to reasons? Please enlighten us I basically say this for this instance because it keeps saying: "Cannot make a static reference to the non-static field" anytime I try And this is the method where I'm trying to work it in: public void breakBlock(World world, int x, int y, int z, Block block, int meta) { switch(meta){ case 0: world.setBlockToAir(x,y,z); break; case 1: world.setBlock(x, y, z, Blocks.clay, 0, 1); block.dropBlockAsItem(world, x, y+1, z, 1, 1); break; case 2: world.setBlock(x, y, z, Blocks.dirt, 0, 1); break; case 3: world.setBlock(x, y, z, Blocks.sand, 0, 1); break; default: break; } } Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server. July 12, 201411 yr As Zer0HD2 put, you'll want an instance of EntityPlayer . Fetch the capabilities field of this instance. Fetch the isCreativeMode field from the capabilities field.
July 12, 201411 yr Author As Zer0HD2 put, you'll want an instance of EntityPlayer . Fetch the capabilities field of this instance. Fetch the isCreativeMode field from the capabilities field. Ok how do I do that exactly. Do I make a new PlayerCapabilities at the top like this to start it off: public PlayerCapabilities capabilities = new PlayerCapabilities(); I just don't understand what is meant by fetch, i'm probably over thinking it *facepalm Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server. July 12, 201411 yr For the current client: Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer.capabilities.isCreativeMode fetch#Verb
July 12, 201411 yr Author For the current client: Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer.capabilities.isCreativeMode fetch#Verb Ok, how was I supposed to know to get that? and I'm guessing I'm not supposed to put it in the if statement, because it doesn't seem to be working This is just Ironic, I get 98s in advanced java coding courses in college, and yet this makes no sense. July 12, 201411 yr isCreativeMode returns a boolean, so it should work in an if statement. I've used it like that before. As long as you have an instance of EntityPlayer, you can use this field. As Elyon said, Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer returns the client player, in the form of an EntityPlayer.

Hmm, then why doesn't this not seem to work?: public void breakBlock(World world, int x, int y, int z, Block block, int meta) { if(Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer.capabilities.isCreativeMode = false){ switch(meta){ case 0: world.setBlockToAir(x,y,z); break; case 1: world.setBlock(x, y, z, Blocks.clay, 0, 1); block.dropBlockAsItem(world, x, y+1, z, 1, 1); break; case 2: world.setBlock(x, y, z, Blocks.dirt, 0, 1); break; case 3: world.setBlock(x, y, z, Blocks.sand, 0, 1); break; default: break; } } } Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server. July 12, 201411 yr How do you know it isn't working? Is it crashing with an error? If you're debugging an if statement just add console statements before and after to print out the value of the expression you're testing then confirm that the code is taking the path you expect. If it is crashing then post the error messages. Otherwise just trace the execution with console statements and you should quickly find any problem. July 12, 201411 yr Alternatively, since it's a boolean, you can use: if(!Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer.capabilities.isCreativeMode) { ... }
July 12, 201411 yr Author You're assigning the field rather than comparing it. Use == . *facepalm I should have tried that, works now thank you.... Now I have a quick question, how do I get my block to spread and update. I was able to get a working spread block, but haven't been able to get it to work with metadata blocks. This is the updateTick of the working spreadBlock *based on vanilla grass: public void updateTick(World world, int x, int y, int z, Random random) { if (!world.isRemote) { if (world.getBlockLightValue(x, y + 1, z) >= 9) { for (int l = 0; l < 97; ++l) { int i1 = x + random.nextInt(3) - 1; int j1 = y + random.nextInt(5) - 3; int k1 = z + random.nextInt(3) - 1; Block block = world.getBlock(i1, j1 + 1, k1); if (world.getBlock(i1, j1, k1) == Blocks.dirt && world.getBlockMetadata(i1, j1, k1) == 0 && world.getBlockLightValue(i1, j1 + 1, k1) >= 4 && world.getBlockLightOpacity(i1, j1 + 1, k1) <= 2) { world.setBlock(i1, j1, k1, this); } } } } } Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server. July 12, 201411 yr Are you sure the code runs? Can you paste your entire class, preferably as a gist for line numbers and syntax highlighting?

July 12, 201411 yr Syntax highlighted: https://gist.github.com/ElyonItari/8f277f514db0f64d1de6 Now, let's see... How long have you waited to see if your block spread?
July 13, 201411 yr Author Syntax highlighted: https://gist.github.com/ElyonItari/8f277f514db0f64d1de6 Now, let's see... How long have you waited to see if your block spread? Well I know I was able to get it to spread by giving it the flag of 3, but it seems to be slightly unpredictable. Member of Aerotech Networks, a Multi-Gaming server.
