Hi everybody,

so I have a problem updating my server and forge. I couldn't find anything about how to perform a mc & forge update so I hope a topic like this does not exist.

I'm using a nitrado server and was using the MC version 1.6.4. Yesterday I decided to update it and checked my mods for the latest version.

-> Problem: not every mod is available in the latest mc version so I installed 1.7.2.

The server itself works fine but all the stuff I have had in the previous version is now gone. So my question is: Is it possible to update to a newer version of mc&forge without losing the used items?

Here my steps that I made to update my server:

#1: Perform a backup und update server via nitrado to 1.7.2 (guess heres the problem because it creates a new server.jar and sets up a new "mods" folder

#2: installing serverversion

#3: Rename minecraft_server.1.7.2.jar to minecraft_server.jar

#4: Copying content of forge universal.jar into minecraft_server.jar

#5: Upload folder libraries, minecraft_server.jar and my updated mods up

#6: Start server and wondering

Thank you for your help

Hi,

I used the installer, sorry I didn't mention that. The installer > server gives me a folder named "libraries" an forge-1.7.2-10.12.2.1147-universal.jar and minecraft_server.1.7.2.jar.

Sure that make sense. But my server is not local. It's a webhoster (nitrado) where I can access files via webinterface or ftp. But I'm not able to execute any files there.

That's the reason why I renamed the server.jar and modified it with the files from the universal.jar.

Okay I did that. But when I try to join the server it says: "minecraft server still starting please reconnect later".

I found this: "This is caused by Forge Mod Loader detecting significant differences between the mods used with the current world and the new mods"

So why is the world not "updated" ? Why do I have to update it via nitrado? That doesn't make sense even because the update deletes all mods and the minecraft_server.jar ._.

The world is updated, if it detects missing or mismatched mods it will as you what you want to do. Read the log file all the information will be in there.

As for mods that arnt updated to .10, MOST mods for .2 will work on .10 as its a small update related to structures.

There are log filea for a reson, read them.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Hi,

so I as you said updated the mods to 1.7.10 and got a fresh forge 1.7.10 recommended installer because I couldn't get anything helpful out from the logs.

(In one log it says that he's skipping some BlockEntity's [18:54:07] [server thread/WARN]: Skipping BlockEntity with id seatTile)

So here are my steps I took:

#1 Restored a backup from 1.6.4

#2 Installed the recommended version for each mod (just to make sure and it worked)

#3 Closed the server and uploaded the files I got from the forge installer: libraries folder, minecraft_server.1.7.10.jar, universial forge which I renamed to minecraft_server.jar

#4 I replaced the existing minecraft_server.jar on the server with the new one and deleted the minecraft_server.1.7.2.jar

#5 Deleted all mod and uploaded the new one for 1.7.10

#6 Started the server

Now I can see the server is available and am able to connect to it, but then just after the "spawn" I disconnect with the message "server closed".

I got a nice crash report about a ticked entity:

    • I have used mixins once before, and it was with @At RETURN, so it worked fine. Now im trying to use it as INVOKE, and the compilation is successful, but the client crashes almost on startup (just a couple seconds after running runClient)   Im trying to inject the method finishConversion inside the ZombieVillager class. This is my Mixin class important stuff:   import net.minecraft.server.level.ServerLevel; import net.minecraft.world.entity.monster.ZombieVillager; import org.spongepowered.asm.mixin.Mixin; import org.spongepowered.asm.mixin.injection.At; import org.spongepowered.asm.mixin.injection.Inject; import org.spongepowered.asm.mixin.injection.callback.CallbackInfo; @Mixin(ZombieVillager.class) public class ZombieVillagerCures { @Inject(method = "finishConversion", at = @At(value = "INVOKE_ASSIGN", target = "Lnet/minecraft/world/entity/LivingEntity;addEffect(Lnet/minecraft/world/effect/MobEffectInstance;)Z")) private void addZombieVillagerCuredAmmount(ServerLevel level, CallbackInfo info) { System.out.println("The Mixin Worked!!! " + level); } // Lnet/minecraft/world/entity/LivingEntity;addEffect(Lnet/minecraft/world/effect/MobEffectInstance;)Z } I'm sure the issue lies in the @At cuz other @At values work fine. Its probably the fully qualified name thing. idk how to get it in VS code
    • I'm wayy less skilled than you i bet, but maybe u could try to just convert one into the other?
