Posted December 29, 201410 yr I was wondering if dimensions were server-side. Obviously they couldn't contain any blocks not on the client, but is the world gen server side? I want to know because I've seen some servers with a farm world that has a dimension ID of -28 etc (they're usually using the overworld generation though). The proud(ish) developer of Ancients
December 29, 201410 yr Yes, dimensions are server side. Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! December 29, 201410 yr In fact, dimensions are only server side. The client only knows about one world at a time (the overworld is a world the end is a world the nether is a world, every dimension has its own World object and the client only knows about one). Clever workarounds not included. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. December 29, 201410 yr Does that mean that world generators are also server side? Lets see. World generators alter blocks. If blocks are altered client-side, the server overwrites those changes. So yes. Yes they are. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.
