Hello all, I'm trying to understand events for future usage. Right now I have a new eventHandler class with my main mod file registering this class into both the minecraft forge event bus and FML event bus. To test it, I want to change the drops from a diamond ore to just an apple. Here is what I have got:

Base Mod file

ChocolateSprinkleEventHandler event = new ChocolateSprinkleEventHandler();

@EventHandler
public void preInit(FMLPreInitializationEvent event){

	ChocolateSprinkleBlocks.init();
	ChocolateSprinkleBlocks.registerBlocks();
	ChocolateSprinkleItems.init();
	ChocolateSprinkleItems.registerItems();

	MinecraftForge.EVENT_BUS.register(event);
	FMLCommonHandler.instance().bus().register(event);

}

Event Handler class

@SubscribeEvent
public void onVanillaOreDrop(BlockEvent.HarvestDropsEvent event) {
	if (event.state.getBlock() == Blocks.diamond_ore){
		event.drops.clear();
		event.dropChance = 1.0f;
		event.drops.add(new ItemStack(Items.apple));
	}
}

As you can guess, it doesn't work for some reason and hence this post. The only idea that I have is that my event handler class is either not being picked up, or the method is not firing. The diamond ore still drops a diamond item.

It might help if you registered your event handler class with the event bus, rather than the FMLPreInitializationEvent.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
