[Solved] Does the client need this mod?

I'm at a stage where i am about ready to release my mod as a beta. dead simple mod, just adds a "wallet" to players using extended properties.

what i'm wondering is if it's possible to make this a server-side only mod. or does the mod need to be on the client side if all it does is add a few commands and an IExtendedEntityProperties class. Anyone know?

if it is possible, how do i make it server-side only?

Um.

If its a wallet.  How do they "use" the "money" it has in it?

Simple answer - yes it is.

(EDIT: confusion - this was the question: "if it is possible, how do i make it server-side only?")

IEEP is something that is attached to Entity (in your case EntityPlayer). Since both server and client has 2 differend entities you can just make your IEEP only on server one. Remember that you will only have that value on server side - you are safe to use commands and return valu as a string in some ChatMessage.

To make mod server-sided you need to put annotation in @Mod:

acceptableRemoteVersions = "*"

1.7.10 is no longer supported by forge, you are on your own.

i have server commands

for example

/wallet pay <name> <amount>

/wallet set <name> <amount>

That doesn't explain what the wallet is used for.

It's a virtual wallet rather than a wallet item. The balance is stored via IEEP, and can be modified through those commands.

Still doesn't address my question:

What allows a player to spend currency other than giving it to another player?

What allows a player to check their balance?

How does a player earn currency?

Money is not what makes an economy.  Money is what greases the economic gears.
