fatal error starting up Minecraft and FML

I deleted and reinstalled MC to make sure I hadn't messed up the folders with previous attempts at things.  I extracted the Forge zip and dumped those files into the .jar folder.  Should I have left them in the folder and moved the whole folder? 

 

Thanks guys I appreciate it.  My son wants me to try some mods with him.

 

ETA-could I have a version mismatch?  I have the latest MC.
