There should be a hook to disable a crafting recipe, and this can also be only server-side. Like on a server that thinks making computercraft computers are too OP. Or this could be a mod that reinvents a new recipe.

There is actually for most mods already a way to do that!!!

All you have to do is go into the server side mod config folder and enable or disable any mod features you like or dont like. Then simply redistribute the config folder to all your end users and they will only see and be able to use recipes you selected.

Granted it dosnt work for all recipes but perhaps this will help?

You can do this with vanilla functionality. Go find a mod that presents it in a noob friendly way. Forge isn't gunna write a configuration for every recipie -.-

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

but perhaps is there a way you could have forge pull recipes into a single config file? that would definately be easier. again as with most of my comments i know it must be harder than it sounds but what im curious about is whether or not it is possible

By using this work in progress event, you can easily disable the recipe :D

I think this was from a server admin, not a modder - in which case, there's no way to do it currently.
