Posted April 10, 20169 yr I have tried messing with the onNeighborBlockChange method and a few other but failed. So the question is how do you have a block "see" what is next to it so it can update its texture so they "connect"?
April 11, 20169 yr This should be done in the rendering side of things. You manually check what blocks are next to the one being drawn in order to decide how to draw it. Look at how the fence rendering code works. (Also: update to 1.9) Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
April 11, 20169 yr 1) Your block's neighbor might not reciprocate. 2) Depending on what you're really trying to do, you might want to adjust your block's bounding box also. See how walls do that. The debugger is a powerful and necessary tool in any IDE, so learn how to use it. You'll be able to tell us more and get better help here if you investigate your runtime problems in the debugger before posting.
April 11, 20169 yr As you are still on 1.7.10 (why???), and I think you mean "connected textures", you can override one of the getIcon methods to return a texture based on surrounding blocks. There are a few tutorials on the internet for connected textures. Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support. 1.12 -> 1.13 primer by williewillus. 1.7.10 and older versions of Minecraft are no longer supported due to it's age! Update to the latest version for support. http://www.howoldisminecraft1710.today/
