It seems that there are 3 problems in the current download that make the setup fail.

1. install.cmd still tries to use MCP's python.

2. Automatically downloading and extracting MCP doesn't work when mcp_dir is set to the parent directory, because it expects that the folder doesn't exist. Needs to be changed manually. (Not sure if it's supposed to be like that.)

3. Eclipse folder does not get replaced, code seems to be commented out..?

I hope I could be of some help.

To anyone freshly downloading MCP and forge, and getting 6000+ errors in eclipse: Close eclipse, delete mcp/eclipse, replace it with mcp/forge/fml/eclipse. (Thanks luacs1998)

Adding to EAQ.

(can't believe it slipped my mind to do so, irc too distracting?)

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

When I try to run forge's install.cmd without mcp it states:

The system cannot find the path specified.
Press any key to continue . . .

Yes, that would be fixed by changing it to use the python binary which FML now includes. Edit the second line in the file to fml\python\python_fml install.py. Don't forget to change mcp_dir in the install.py file to "mcp" or something, or "../mcp" if you want it in the parent directory, it will create a folder with that name.

edit: Or do it like usual, download mcp and put forge in, then you only need to replace the eclipse folder.

Which is why auto mcp downloading is retarded, I personally prefer to install it myself.

I wouldn't say that, it works great actually. In the future I'll only have to download forge :)

Hi there,

I recently tried setting up Forge and MCP using both the manual method (grabbing all the jars and such by hand) and the method described by the wiki, which was to just add Forge into MCP, and run install.cmd. Both times resolved in the error you mentioned above. I tried your fix, both by pointing eclipse to using the folder you specified, and by copy and pasting that folder into MCP's root folder, and then pointing eclipse to that.

Both times, I now resolve in 8 errors. These all reference the external libraries:

guava-12.0.1.jar

asm-all-4.0.jar

argo-2.25.jar

minecraft.jar

lwjgl.jar

jinput.jar

Whats weird is all of these can be found in my "jars" folder in MCP. As well as that, they have full drop downs in the Minecraft project folder. Any ideas on what could help?

Riizu, you don't actually have to do that much. To make sure you won't have any problems I suggest setting it up from the beginning again.

- Get MCP, extract it wherever you want. (I'll call the folder "mcp" here.)

- Get forge, extract the folder to mcp/forge.

- Run mcp/forge/install.cmd.

- Delete the folder mcp/eclipse.

- Copy the folder mcp/forge/fml/eclipse to mcp/eclipse.

- Start up eclipse.

- Start modding.

- ? ? ? ?

- Profit!

Forge will download Minecraft and all other needed files automatically.

I've reverted the recomended back to 411 which should fix almost all of these.

Interesting that the people I asked to test it didn't give me any errors, oh well.

Anyways, MCP downloading is there because people don't know how to do things properly.

If you are to dense to figure it out you can STILL use it in the EXACT same manor as you always have, and it will automatically detect that MCP is in the folder above it.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Well apparently that caused even more problems than there should be.

At least I can still use the usual method

Agree with him.

There is a way to fix it though (ie: don't extract eclipse from mcp zip, just copy forge's one there)

^^ That's for you Lex/cpw.

It cleans up a lot of issue that people have especially the people who like to hook there mods into auto building systems.

Anyways all this shit is fixed, as its all FML issues.

Just need to wait till the next time we sync things with FML, Which will have a lot more changes then just the workspace and downloads.

Shit break while they are being re-written, deal with it.

Nothing that has happened has been a show stopper, no more then 30 seconds for you, the modder, to work around on your end.

It also  shows when you have no internet connexion I believe...

Tried the usual manual installation procedure and still get this. (MCodingPack 7.23 and forge folder (6.4.1.435) inside)

Copying the eclipse folder (from forge to main folder) doesn't help. Or naming the main folder "mcp" for that matter.

When trying to run python without "install.cmd" , got a "python_fml isn't a valid win32 application". Could it be a bad version of python or something ?

I am on Vista(x86)SP2. My latest manual installation (forge 6.4.1.410) worked, so I'll stick with that for the moment.

edit: Forge"Readme" file says something about fernflower decompiler at http://goo.gl/PnJHp (address which doesn't work :/ ) ?

edit: Fix work for forge 6.4.1.430.
