Hi everybody,

Last day I went on downloading another version of Forge, from the Files page.

If you hover your mouse above the (i) image, you can see the URL which the link points to at the bottom of your window (in Chrome).

There is of course the path /maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/...

I was scrolling through the list of 1.8.9 downloads and sometimes the artifact structure was (gameversion)-(forgeversion)-(gameversion), but sometimes it was just (gameversion)-(forgeversion). Like all the 1.6.x builds have the last structure.

And also build 1890 has the first structure, but 1762 the second, and so have the 50 or so first builds from 1.7.10.

So, I'm wondering if there is any logic in the naming of the artifacts.

I can't find any, actually.

I believe the build process appends the Git branch name to the file name when it's not

master

, so most of the early builds for a given version will have the suffix while the latter ones won't.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

That is exactly the case.

We just use the version number as the branch name because it just makes sense to call it that.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
