Posted December 16, 201212 yr I recently tried updating from forge 436 to 445. When I did (and made no further changes to the server that was working prior) I got the following error upon attempting to login: 2012-12-16 10:27:09 [sEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] Error handling login related packet - connection from dualMoon [/72.23.131.202:56927] refused java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: 32000 > 97 at java.util.Arrays.copyOfRange(Arrays.java:2549) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLPacket.makePacketSet(FMLPacket.java:113) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.ModListResponsePacket.execute(ModListResponsePacket.java:132) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLNetworkHandler.handleFMLPacket(FMLNetworkHandler.java:109) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLNetworkHandler.handlePacket250Packet(FMLNetworkHandler.java:74) at it.a(NetLoginHandler.java:297) at dj.a(SourceFile:59) at cg.b(TcpConnection.java:451) at it.c(NetLoginHandler.java:65) at hu.a(ServerListenThread.java:54) at ht.b(SourceFile:29) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.r(MinecraftServer.java:704) at ho.r(DedicatedServer.java:252) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.q(MinecraftServer.java:600) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:499) at fy.run(SourceFile:856) 2012-12-16 10:27:09 [WARNING] [Minecraft] Failed to handle packet for dualMoon [/72.23.131.202:56927]: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: 32000 > 97 java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: 32000 > 97 at java.util.Arrays.copyOfRange(Arrays.java:2549) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLPacket.makePacketSet(FMLPacket.java:113) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.ModListResponsePacket.execute(ModListResponsePacket.java:132) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLNetworkHandler.handleFMLPacket(FMLNetworkHandler.java:109) at cpw.mods.fml.common.network.FMLNetworkHandler.handlePacket250Packet(FMLNetworkHandler.java:74) at it.a(NetLoginHandler.java:297) at dj.a(SourceFile:59) at cg.b(TcpConnection.java:451) at it.c(NetLoginHandler.java:65) at hu.a(ServerListenThread.java:54) at ht.b(SourceFile:29) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.r(MinecraftServer.java:704) at ho.r(DedicatedServer.java:252) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.q(MinecraftServer.java:600) at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:499) at fy.run(SourceFile:856) Once I downgraded to forge 436 again I had no problems. I then attempted to install a mod by dropping into the client/server mods folders, and recieved the same error. I really don't know where to take this except here. Server forge log: https://gist.github.com/b43bdf1db0ae4c0c0ca5 Client forge log: https://gist.github.com/83c1ec80c18682c0f3b4 I've tried to find this error elsewhere and can't seem to do so. There are others with Internal Server Error, but not with the Error handling login related packet / Failed to handle packet errors. I tried removing all JAR mods (except forge, ofc.) and the error still occurred. I can't think of any further information at this point. Let me know if I can be more helpful.
December 16, 201212 yr Both of the logs show that you're on Forge 436. There's an EAQ for a reason. Read it! "Note that failure to read this will make you look idiotic. You don't want that do you?" -- luacs1998 First rule of bug reports: More information is always better. Oh, and logs OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!
December 16, 201212 yr Author I then attempted to install a mod by dropping into the client/server mods folders, and recieved the same error. These logs are from attempting to install a mod while using 436. The logs for 445 were identical, but the number being compared to 32000 was different.
