[1.10.2][SOLVED]Exception loading model [model] with loader Variant

Recommended Posts

Second post, again about .json files (I used to mod back before 1.8 and then stopped, and I just can't get my head around these blockstates). Sorry for my ignorance.

I just dont understand why forge doesn't want to load my ItemBlock models from Blockstate.json class. It throws

  Quote
net.minecraft.client.renderer.block.model.ModelBlockDefinition$MissingVariantException

I've tried using

  Quote
ModelLoader.setCustomModelResourceLocation(Item.getItemFromBlock(block), meta, new ModelResourceLocation(block.getRegistryName(),"variant="+variant));

and

  Quote
ModelLoader.setCustomModelResourceLocation(Item.getItemFromBlock(block), meta, new ModelResourceLocation(block.getRegistryName(),"variant));

but I still get

  Quote
Exception loading model arpgf:BlockPlainTable#variant=spruce (Or just #spruce) with loader VariantLoader.INSTANCE, skipping

etc. etc.

In my blockstate .json

  Quote
...

"variants": {

        "variant": {

            "oak": {

                "textures": {

                    "0": "blocks/log_oak",

                    "1": "blocks/log_oak_top"

                }

            },

            "jungle": {

                "textures": {

                    "0": "blocks/log_jungle",

                    "1": "blocks/log_jungle_top"

                }

            },

...

You need to add the missing variants into your blockstate. For example, because it says

Exception loading model arpgf:BlockPlainTable#variant=spruce

you'll need to add

"spruce": {
    "textures": {
        "0": "blocks/log_spruce",
        "1": "blocks/log_spruce_top"
    }
}

to your blockstate varients. Do this for every other variant that it reports missing (I'm sure there's a way to have it ignore certain variants so you don't have to put them in the blockstate, though I am not sure what that would be.)

I'm eager to learn and am prone to mistakes. Don't hesitate to tell me how I can improve.

I do have every possible variant in my blockstate. I've justed used these two as an example so I don't have to post 60 lines of repeating .json file. But here it is.

Hmm, going off of my own code for when I was having similar issues, try this instead:

{
    "forge_marker": 1,
    "defaults": {
        "model": "arpgf:plainTable",
        "textures": {
            "0": "blocks/log_oak",
            "1": "blocks/log_oak_top"
        }
    },
    "variants": {
	"oak": {
		"textures": {
			"0": "blocks/log_oak",
			"1": "blocks/log_oak_top"
		}
	},
	"jungle": {
		"textures": {
			"0": "blocks/log_jungle",
			"1": "blocks/log_jungle_top"
		}
	},
	"spruce": {
		"textures": {
			"0": "blocks/log_spruce",
			"1": "blocks/log_spruce_top"
		}
	},
	"acacia": {
		"textures": {
			"0": "blocks/log_acacia",
			"1": "blocks/log_acacia_top"
		}
	},
	"big_oak": {
		"textures": {
			"0": "blocks/log_big_oak",
			"1": "blocks/log_big_oak_top"
		}
	},
	"birch": {
		"textures": {
			"0": "blocks/log_birch",
			"1": "blocks/log_birch_top"
		}
	}
},

"cover": {
	"true": {
		"submodel": "arpgf:cover"
	},
	"false": {}
}
}

I removed the extra "varient" so that it goes straight from "varients" to "oak", etc. (I'm somewhat inexperienced with blockstates, though.)

I'm eager to learn and am prone to mistakes. Don't hesitate to tell me how I can improve.

That gives even more errors and now even placed block models aren't loaded  :P Yeah.. So am I, don't know why but I find it extremely confusing.

Post the WHOLE error.  The first line about missing variants is a generic problem that's caused by one of several other errors, such as FileNotFound.

Also, your blockstate.json does not contain an "inventory" variant, which would be used for--you guessed it--items.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

[03:38:41] [Client thread/ERROR] [FML]: Suppressed additional 1 model loading errors for domain arpgf

Posted

Like I said:

Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: arpgf:models/item/BlockPlainTable.json

Basically all missing variant problems will come with two (or more) errors.  The first one is just "we failed to load a variant" followed by another error, which can be a missing model, a malformed json, or that the blockstate file actually didn't have the variant in it.  And its possible for more than one of these to be thrown as well (for example, the item variant of a block will throw both the "missing variant in blockstate" error AND the "file not found" error because the game attempts to locate it in both places, if it finds one, no error is thrown, but if it finds neither, then both errors are thrown).

Maybe you think you are helping, but you really aren't. Don't you think I've read the wiki before posting? . I obviously don't use the item one. SO

I obviously have variants, model and json file is working for block textures. So what is the problem?

As you can see from the log the game is looking for a variant called "birch". But in your JSON you defined variants such as "variant=birch". Hence "birch" is not found in the JSON, resulting in the error.

For things like this it really helps for you to post a git repo, so the full code can be viewed.

Unfortunately that doesn't solve the issue either

For things like this it really helps for you to post a git repo, so the full code can be viewed.

Because, as I said, there are multiple possible problems and I made the most informed suggestion that I could.  I even explained why you see the error you do.  But as I can't see your code, I'm taking shots in the dark.

I'll try to set up github soon. Until then maybe this can help.

Because you are trying to register a block that has variants and trying to register those variants for the item model, you can't construct your variant string that way (

"variant="+variant

). You need to get the statemapper property string.

Something like this:

StateMapperBase b = new DefaultStateMapper();
BlockStateContainer bsc = block.getBlockState();
ImmutableList<IBlockState> values = bsc.getValidStates();
for(IBlockState state : values) {
String str = b.getPropertyString(state.getProperties());
registerBlockItemModelForMeta(block, block.getMetaFromState(state), str);
}

Additionally, your BlockPlainTable has two different properties.  You can't just loop over one of those properties and create an item for it: the other property is still required.

If you don't want that property to be included, then you need a custom IStateMapper implementation as well.

Yup, this was the problem, I've printed out that string and now I get what I was doing wrong. States I needed were "cover=false,variant=oak","cover=true,variant=oak" etc.

Thank you.

Sorry for late bump, but I've been doing some research, changed my code quite a bit, and since now I'm saving additional properties to NBT (because of meta limit of 16), I was wondering if there is a way to render different ItemBlock model based on ItemBlock NBTTags?

For example, I have additional property "pattern" which is saved to TileEntity. Is there a way to render a different model based on NBT of Itemblock which would be set after block itself is destroyed and item is dropped.

IITemPropertyGetter

Wow you are quick  ;)

Already found it.

    /**
     * Creates a new override param for item models. See usage in clock, compass, elytra, etc.
     */
    public final void addPropertyOverride(ResourceLocation key, IItemPropertyGetter getter)
    {
        this.properties.putObject(key, getter);
    }

But thank you :)

    • I fight fires for a living, it's in my blood as a volunteer firefighter. But nothing could have prepared me for the fire that almost reduced my family's future to ashes. I had secretly accumulated $150,000 worth of Bitcoin over the years, intending to lock up my children's education and provide my wife with some leeway from our constant shift-work life. That was until a phishing attack struck me while I was out fighting a wildfire. The call had been on a hot afternoon. We were dashing to contain wildfires tearing across parched scrub lands. At such frantic moments, my phone pulsed with a security alert message from what looked like my Bitcoin wallet operator. Drenched with sweat, fatigue, and hyper adrenaline, I had clicked on the link and input my log-ins without questioning anything. I was tricked by hackers during my most vulnerable time. Hours later, returning to the station, I emptied my wallet. The harsh reality hit me with more force than any fire could ever have. My carefully saved safety net had vanished. My heart beat faster than the sirens. I felt as though I had failed my family. I explained my terror of burgers at our favorite local diner that evening to my friend. He leaned in close and whispered a single word: Digital Hack Recovery. He swore by their effectiveness, stating they worked miracles when his cousin had crypto stolen from him in a scam. I was skeptical old-school and desperate, so I called them. From the first call, their team treated me like family. They didn't only view figures; they viewed a husband and a father attempting to rectify a horrific error. They labored day and night, following stolen money through blockchain transactions like l detectives. Progress was made every day, translating intricate tech into fireman-speak. Ten days later, I got the call. “We recovered your Bitcoin.” I cried. Right there in the station, surrounded by smoke-stained gear, I let it all out. Relief. Gratitude. Hope they don't stop there. Knowing I worked in emergency services, Digital Hack Recovery offered to run an online security workshop for my entire fire department. They turned my disaster into a lesson that safeguarded my team. These folks don’t just recover wallets; they rebuild lives. They rebuilt mine. I fight fires for a living, it's in my blood as a volunteer firefighter. • Ran it one more time just to check, and there's no errors this time on the log??? Log : https://mclo.gs/LnuaAiu I tried allocating more memory to the modpack, around 8000MB and it's still the same; stopping at "LOAD_REGISTRIES". Are some of the mods clashing, maybe? I have no clue what to do LOL
