Pixelmon do not show up on my private server

So I was creating a server that me and my friends could play on and wanted to mod it with a pixelmon mod. 

I got all of the steps right for creating the server and downloading the mod, but when I joined the server, no pixelmon were spawning and it didn't ask me for my starter choice.

But when I went into single player the pixelmon were everywhere so I figured there had to be a problem with my server.

Any Ideas?

 

If it helps-- this is 1.7.10

      Thanks, I've now installed a slightly newer version and the server is at least starting up now.

      Do you have shaders enabled? There is an issue with the mod simpleclouds - remove this mod or disable shaders, if enabled

      Maybe you need to create file in assets/<modid>/items/<itemname>.json with content like this:   { "model": { "type": "minecraft:model", "model": "modname:item/itemname" } }
