So I want to make it so when the EntityPlayer is wearing my special armor set I wish for the player to allow my flight by double-clicking space bar. Bonus question although this sounds kinda stupid how would I add an enchantment to an item upon crafting.

If you use eclipse, you should see an arrow to indicate that it has successfully overridden a method. If you don't see that, you will have to use a serverTickHandler:

and then use some of the info from this tutorial:

where you don't add a potion effect, but instead use player.capabilities.allowFlying = true;

 

Can you try that and report back if that works?
