So I just installed minecraft forge for 1.12.2 yesterday and been trying to work, but each time I try to play it it either stops the launcher from responding or says the game crashed. 

I have tried deleting and then reinstalling multiple times.

I'm on Windows by the way.

Yeah same here. I did everything I was supposed to do. Install Java, install forge and open minecraft. I opened minecraft using the forge profile. Whenever I click play, it just closes the launcher and never opens up the game itself. I tried leaving the launcher open to see what would happen and it just gives me a crash notice

I don't know how to post logs. I tried reading the instructions and it was confusing for me to keep up with

If you are confused by the instructions of where the logs are are you sure you installed forge correctly because all you have to do is upload the logs/fml-{client/server}-latest.log which is found in your .minecraft folder

You installed Optifine for 1.8.9 on Minecraft 1.8. What made you think that was a good idea? Also, stop using 1.8 its old.

But I'm not using 1.8... I'm using 1.12.2 that's why I'm on this thread on the first place

Maybe I pulled up the wrong one, but trust me, I have no reason to be on 1.8

Forge is working now I think. The reason why you saw minecraft 1.8 is because for some reason optifine 1.8.9 was in the mod folder for some reason?

no, but I am running 1.12.2, and I figured out how to fix 1.7.10

 

those were dated the sixth but this started on the seventh, it's just not showing the logs.
