I am trying to run Forge (just downloaded it ) on Ubuntu 18.04 (MATE). It is crashing BEFORE any mods are loaded and it seems to be a signing problem.

Error: java.lang.SecurityException: class "com.google.common.eventbus.FMLThrowingEventBus"'s signer information does not match signer information of other classes in the same package

This bug exists in 1.12.2 - 14.23.3.2685 due to the way the devs tried to implement FMLThrowingEventBus, I have been informed that this change will be undone and they will try to find a different method of implementing it.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

For mi it was JDK version related issue both on Linux Mint 19 and ubuntu 18.04.

Mint by default uses JDK 11 version, but minecraft uses version 8. So you need to change mint/ubuntu used version by typing this command:

sudo update-alternatives --config java

I selected option 2, cause it was JDK 8, same as minecraft and then restarted PC!
