I am not new to java and sometimes code plugins for Bukkit/Spigot. Sometimes I try to make a forge mod, but I am seriously confused on entities. All the tutorials are about living entities. I'm just wondering how to make a non-living entity, because I would like to make a hockey puck, so I can code a game of hockey. Even when I did get helpful info, it was conflicting info. I just want to clear up some confusion in my head.

EntityLiving extends Entity

Soo...extend Entity, too?

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

That entirely depends on what you want your entity to do.

Presumably you'd want to override at least one.

Where does my model go?

Models for entities are java classes. I'd recommend you to use modeling applications such as blockbench to create them. You can put them anywhere you want in your source code folder.

I used block bench.

And I'm pretty sure they are jsons.

No, they are not. Switch your model type to Entity model in BlockBench ( I don't remember where. Maybe in "project" tab. )

I don't understand you. Do you want to paint your entity in black? If yes, then create a black one texture (you can add texture at the left bottom box) and drag this texture to the model or to it's parts (located at right bottom box).

I looked at the at the aether-legacy repository, and in the class AetherEntityRenderingRegistry.java, I looked at the code and saw:

public static <ENTITY extends Entity> void register(Class<ENTITY> classes, final Class<? extends Render<ENTITY>> render)
{
	RenderingRegistry.registerEntityRenderingHandler(classes, new IRenderFactory<ENTITY>() {

		@Override
		public Render<ENTITY> createRenderFor(RenderManager manager)
		{
			try
			{
				return render.getConstructor(RenderManager.class).newInstance(manager);
			}
			catch (Exception e)
			{
				e.printStackTrace();
			}
				return null;
		}
	});
}

and I checked the license, and it was the GNU General Public License v3.0 license, so you can use the code. So thank you Aether-Legacy.

That code...

take a look at https://github.com/Cadiboo/Example-Mod/blob/4ed728a75815285c6382420832a1b671142e60c4/src/main/java/io/github/cadiboo/examplemod/EventSubscriber.java#L101-L122 for how to use the EntityEntryBuilder (which you need to use) and https://github.com/Cadiboo/Example-Mod/blob/4ed728a75815285c6382420832a1b671142e60c4/src/main/java/io/github/cadiboo/examplemod/client/ClientEventSubscriber.java#L68 for how to register an entity renderer. If you are familiar with the double colon method reference notation you can use it here (Entity____Renderer::new)
