[1.12]How to give player potion effects and make blind doesn't stop sprinting

Featured Replies

I wanted to make a mod for me and my friends to play with and it will give player blindness 10 when they are standing still and 5 when they are running, then I found this:

        if (this.isSprinting())
        {
            this.jumpMovementFactor = (float)((double)this.jumpMovementFactor + (double)this.speedInAir * 0.3D);
        }

so I want to do EntityLivingBase.addPotionEffect(new PotionEffect(MobEffects.BLINDNESS, 20, 1)); here but eclipse told me I need to change addPotionEffect to static, why.

Edited:

And since blindness stops sprinting so I need to make blindness doesn't stop sprinting and I have no idea how

just MCP for minecraft 1.12 in EntityPlayer.java

You’re directly modifying minecraft classes using MCP?

emm yes? what's wrong with that or you have a way to pull it out? I have a package called hack because of no reason and has a Var class inside just with vars

I put

EntityLivingBase.addPotionEffect(new PotionEffect(MobEffects.BLINDNESS, 20, 1));

in it and MC crashed as soon as I open the world and if I changed addPotionEffect to static, it doesn't crash when I load, but when I sleep

Directly modifying the minecraft jar has not been required or supported since beta 1.4 IIRC. Do not do it, it breaks all other mods and mod loaders, may not work at all, can cause weird issues, is a security issue and corrupts installs. Do not do it! Especially if you don’t know java, shown by

Eclipse Quick-Fixes are rarely the correct answer. ESPECIALLY if you don't know WTF you're doing.

EntityLivingBase.addPotionEffect

Which entity living base do you want to effect? Because EntityLivingBase is a class.
