Hello ! I try in vain to place an oriented block in a specific orientation in a procedure but it makes me crash when calling the procedure.

Here is the line I'm talking about :

world.setBlockState(new BlockPos((int) x, (int) (y + 1), (int) z), mcreator_secondBlock.block.getStateFromMeta(1));

And this is the error :

Cannot set property PropertyDirection{name=facing, clazz=class net.minecraft.util.EnumFacing, values=[north, south, west, east]} to up on block earthcraft:secondblock, it is not an allowed value

I hope that someone could help me ..

(I know, I use MCreator .. but I'm new to modding but not to Java (so it's a good way to understand the structure of Minecraft and Modding).

  1. Stop using MCreator. It is bad and you should feel bad for using it.
  2. Stop using getStateFromMeta directly. IBlockStates exist so you don't have to deal in magic numbers. someBlock.getDefaultState().withProperty(FACING, EnumFacing.NORTH)
  3. Your block does not support a facing direction, but you are trying to set it.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

No.

Minecraft modding is programming in Java.

As for your problem, you are setting a property of your block which your block does not have. This will cause a crash.

1. Do not follow tutorials on YouTube, especially TechnoVision (previously called Loremaster) and HarryTalks, due to their promotion of bad practice and usage of outdated code.

2. Always post your code.

3. Never copy and paste code. You won't learn anything from doing that.

Support & Bug Reports:

1. Read the EAQ before asking for help. Remember to provide the appropriate log(s).

2. Versions below 1.11 are no longer supported due to their age. Update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support.
