Hello,

I'm having an issue with forge. I am unable to change config of mods in main menu of MC, because the config button is always grey. I already found out it isn't mod problem. What should I do?

You can always change configs manually before you launch your game.

It’s grayed out because the mods don’t implement a config screen and there isn’t a Forge default one yet

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Well, yeah. But for example Cyclic mod has more options in ingame mod config, than in its config file. And the author himself replied to some similar topics on forums, that MC Forge did something with configuration systems. I know for sure, it's not a problem of my mods, but Forge. Is there anything you would suggest me doing in this case? :)

*EDIT : He channels other players with same problems to this https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/pull/6467 and comments that Forge blocked him somehow ...

So this is an issue with Forge, not the individual mod? I finally got a config file to work using Cadiboo's tutorial, and I think I saw somewhere that with those files and instructions I should have access to the config through the mods menu with that button, but mine is also always greyed out like it was before I even made the files.

My mod is just changing stuff in the user interface, so ideally the player could adjust the values in game, and then check to see how it looks without having to restart the game every time.

The config system for older versions was removed as it needs to be re-written, however, the version in which that screenshot is running both has a working gui system if the mod itself enables it, and is so old that it is no longer supported on the forum. So.. thread locked.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
