Posted April 12, 20205 yr Hi, I'm new to modding and I would like to drop a custom item from a vanilla block. After several tests, I tested this with just a vanilla item: Quote @SubscribeEvent public void pickupItem(HarvestDropsEvent event) { if (event.getState().getBlock() == Blocks.DIRT) { event.getDrops().add(new ItemStack(Items.STONE)); } } But even this doesn't drop a stone from dirt. Can you please help me?
April 12, 20205 yr Author Thanks for the reply. I've read about it, but I don't know how to properly apply it. Do I need to put the loot table file in my mod ressources? What do I need to put in the file? Edited April 12, 20205 yr by AntoPrime
April 12, 20205 yr Yes, in your resources, but in assets/minecraft/loot_tables instead of your modid, and that should override vanilla loot tables. I have little experience with it, so I'm not sure what happens if multiple mods override a loot table. Look at vanilla loot tables for examples, they should be in the client-extra jar in your IDEs referenced libraries. Edited April 12, 20205 yr by Ugdhar
April 13, 20205 yr Author Thank you, I found how to do it, it's really easy! What I didn't get is that I had to make a directory in src/main/resources and name it data.minecraft.loot_tables.blocks and place my JSON file in it. By just naming the package "data.minecraft", it automatically overrides Minecraft's loot tables! To replace the loot table with your custom item, that's how you need to write the JSON file: Quote { "pools": [ { "rolls": 1, "entries": [ { "type": "item", "name": "modid:custom_item" } ] } ] } And name the file oak_log if you want to override the Oak Log loot table for example. April 13, 20205 yr Note, if you use that json file, explosions may not treat your block correctly. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
