I know this a noob question, but all the tutorials I have come across confuse me and I recently came from modloader, so Forge kind of confuses me.

Could anyone explain it too me

I have a class started, but I am getting errors that I cant seem to solve

Class

package AeroMod.Tutorial;

import net.minecraft.block.Block;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;
import net.minecraft.creativetab.CreativeTabs;

public class WaterStoneblock extends Block
{
	public WaterStoneblock(int part1, Material par2Material)
	{
 super(part1, par2Material);
 this.setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabBlock);
	}

}

In my main Class (My error is underlined)

waterstoneblock = new WaterStoneblock(506).setUnlocalizedName("waterstoneblock");

LanguageRegistry.addName(waterstoneblock, "WaterStone Block");

GameRegistry.registerBlock(waterstoneblock, waterstoneblock.getUnlocalizedName2());

Help is very appreciated

I'm having a hard time understand you, your English is bad :-\

new WaterStoneblock(506)

does not match

public WaterStoneblock(int part1, Material par2Material)

Your passing an int to a function that wants an int AND a Material.

(function a(b, c) is not the same function as function a(b))

You cannot pass in your Block. You must pass in one of the public Materials in net.minecraft.block.Material, as Chibill said, or you can create your own Material. It's much easier to do the former, of course. If you want to do the latter, just look at the javadoc for the Material constructor and ask if you still have any questions.

what do you mean javadoc?

Java Documentation.

It's all the nice helpful info popups in Eclipse that you're probably ignoring.

Getting testy are we :(

As I have said I am a noob and don't know anything about forge, i have been looking at the popups, but don't understand them

Try hovering your mouse over...well, just about anything.

Hovering it over an error tells you what the error is (and can offer most solutions).  Hovering it over a function call, variable, or type will show you information about that object and clicking on the icon/bolded text will jump your view to where that object is defined.

If you do not understand Java, I highly suggest you look at some tutorials. It is for your own benefit, and it will help you as a modder. You'll just "get" a lot more.

Of course, not the only way.  Minecraft is my first experience with Java, but my...5th language?

(C++, AS2, AS3, Javascript....yeah, 5th language I've used extensively)

So I'm pretty much at the point where I only need to learn syntax and the IDE.  Fortunately Eclipse is a fuckign awesome IDE.  Next project in Unity I do I'm going to see if I can set up Eclipse as my code editor.  Sooo much nicer than MonoDevelop. <3

As a big newbie new to programming and modding I started working wtih modding before I learned a programming language, and boy how slow it went compared to the speed I could do things at after just a few lectures inn programming!

Do yourself a huge favour learn java basics first :)
