Posted October 7, 20204 yr Hello! I'm trying to render an image above my entity just as the label that displays the player's name. I've searched through the entity's render class, but I did not find anything related. When searched for this, I found a few examples but they most likely outdated, as they are from 2013. Can anyone help me out?
October 7, 20204 yr I think the closest thing to what you want to achieve is to search how particles are rendered, since they are just a textures that gets draw on the screen in a certain location in most cases. Or you can always create an entity that has the texture of your image and spawn that entity when you want to see the image, but I don't think this will be the optimal approach (but it will sure get the job done quickly) Don't blame me if i always ask for your help. I just want to learn to be better
October 7, 20204 yr Take a look at the EntityRenderer#renderName method...to draw an image instead of text you could just use a textured quad Check out the port of the BetterEnd fabric mod (WIP): https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/betterend-forge-port

October 7, 20204 yr Which problem? Have you tried to write down some code? Check out the port of the BetterEnd fabric mod (WIP): https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/betterend-forge-port
October 7, 20204 yr Author Yes, I managed to make my quad, I only need the image to be rendered, that's where I got stuck.
October 7, 20204 yr Use Minecraft#getTextureManager()#bindTexture(Your texture resource location) Check out the port of the BetterEnd fabric mod (WIP): https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/betterend-forge-port
October 7, 20204 yr Author I actually tried this. I don't think it's how it's should be done as the texture does not render. What am I doing wrong? bufferbuilder.begin(7, DefaultVertexFormats.POSITION_COLOR); bufferbuilder.pos(-i - 1, -15 + verticalShift - 10, 0.0D).color(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, f).endVertex(); bufferbuilder.pos(-i - 1, 8 + verticalShift - 10, 0.0D).color(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, f).endVertex(); bufferbuilder.pos(i + 1, 8 + verticalShift - 10, 0.0D).color(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, f).endVertex(); bufferbuilder.pos(i + 1, -15 + verticalShift - 10, 0.0D).color(0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, f).endVertex(); this.mc.getTextureManager().bindTexture(location); tessellator.draw();
October 7, 20204 yr You have to bind the texture before creating the vertices. Also if you want to apply a texture you need to give texture informations to your vertices. You can use DefaultVertexFormats.POSITION_TEX Check out the port of the BetterEnd fabric mod (WIP): https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/betterend-forge-port
