Failure message: Missing License Information in file Mod File

hi im getting the same problem and have tried everything, it just says missing license information in my mod folder. Im guessing that is because it did not come with a mod folder and i made my own and named it "mods". how do I get this mods license information could someone send me theres i just want to play minecraft :(

This error comes from either trying to use a 1.15 or earlier mod in 1.16, or from an incompetent dev omitting necessary info from the mod.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

thank you, i just realized my mods were 1.16.2 and my forge was 1.16.4. What do i do if i want to use different mods and can only find them in different version? can I only use mods of one version that match my forge?

You're tyring to use a 1.15 mod on 1.16

You cannot do this.
