ModLoader and Forge Compatibility

Hi all, I understand that Forge is no longer dependant on ModLoader.  Is it still possible to run them side by side or does Forge remove the need for ModLoader altogether?

 

I ask because I am new to modding and I'm trying to install RedPower 2.

Yes. You don't need ModLoader AT ALL. Forge mods can use FML.

And non-forge mods should still be able to run on forge as well, just without the extra features like infinite sprites.

Does FML also replicate the functionality of AudioMod?

Forge does yes, and also provides a interface tot he sound system that is infinitaly more powerful then audiomod. {Seriously audio mod is like 20 lines of code , that just reads stuff from a folder.}
