I created a mod for the 1.16.5 when I put it in the mods folder of my test server.

I get the error message in the server list:

"Incompatible fml modded server. Server network message list is not compatible"

server and client have the same mods

this is my mod

First of all, you should really set up your projects to not have that extra folder in them, it makes it a lot easier to work with the repository when cloning it.

sorry for that but my ide creates this folder automatically i try to change this

The repository you posted doesn't even manage to start a server, because your code is trying to load a client-only class.

What? how it does not manage the server start? what do i have to change?

have you not... tried it? It crashes with a class not found.

interesting that you get an error,

I suspect it is because you are using the server run from the ide

I use a "normal" forge server (because the server run in the ide does not work for me) and I don't get any error messages

Edit: what do i have to change or which class is missing

There should not be any difference between the two. Run it in your IDE, if you get the error there is a problem.

I've now tried the mod in my ide but I don't get any errors

these are the logs from server and client

I pulled your repository and like often happens with your git repo you somehow managed to update thousands of files in just 2 commits. What on earth.

You also now include the run and bin folder and a bunch of other unnecessary files in your repo, why are you not using the MDK's .gitignore file?

that's because I removed the additional folder from my reop and then didn't take over the existing gitignore file

edit: if you have to clone my repo again, there might still be a few problems because I want to fix that with the gitignore file

You only register your network channel on the client, so of course the version will be mismatched (the server doesn't have the channel).

how or where do I have to register this

I currently register the simplechanel in the mod class, I have to move it to an external class

The class where you it is entirely irrelevant. What matters is the event you use. Currently you use FMLClientSetupEvent, which only fires on the client distribution.

Thanks for your help

Well, I thought that it would work now, I was probably too happy about that.

i have changed a few other things,

at first i thought it was because i have reversed the changes but i still can't get on the server.

I don't get an error on either side (server and client). The only thing I get is an error screen that says

"Failed to connect to the server"

"Failed to login: Invalid session (try restarting the game or the luncher)"

here are the logs from server and client

Client.log

Server.log
