Hello.

For some reason, Forge is not working with the Minecraft launcher for me. I downloaded it, installed, ran it once to see if it worked, and it was fine.

I tried installing mods, and when I pressed play the launcher closed as usual, but never opened Minecraft.

I uninstalled the mods, and retried, and it did the same thing.

I tried switching to my vanilla Minecraft profile, and that worked fine.

Whenever I click play with a Forge build, the launcher closes, as it usually does, but Minecraft does not open afterwards.

I am running Forge build 9.10.842 (The latest, I believe) on Minecraft 1.6.2, and was trying to install The better archery mod, The RenderPlayerAPI, Somnia-Pre1c and ImprovedFirstPerson R2.

Does anyone know whether the problem is due to the mods clashing, or is it a problem with Forge itself?

And if you're editing your jar, stop. You should never need to do that anymore.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

1. No log was generated. I checked, and there was none in the folder.

2. I am not editing the .JAR files. Below is what I did, and if this is wrong, please tell me where it goes wrong.

-Download forge installer.

-Run installer.

-After message comes up saying it was installed, clicked ok.

-opened minecraft launcher.

-clicked forge profile.

-clicked play.

-closed minecraft after it started up.

-added the .jar files for the mods I installed into the /mods folder

-restarted minecraft, and opened forge profile.

-Launcher went on, loaded, then shut down as it does before minecraft opens up.

-Minecraft does not open at all, no crash log is generated.

If there is a log generated, please tell me where it would be generated in case I am looking in the wrong place. (At this point, I will try installing only the API to see if it works)

There is always a log generated, be it the file, or the console log that the new launcher provides, there is always a log. And now it's really easy to get. Either get the console log or the one from the file. Either will tell us whats wrong.

I actually think the problem is with a mod incompatibility with the latest forge build.

And where would the log file be generated to? The console does not open afterwards, it just closes.

Thank you for your help so far, but I am aware you can do nothing until I provide a log.

I will try downloading a past forge build for 1.6.2, see if that works.

ForgeModLoader-client-0.log in your .minecraft folder.

You'll know where to find it if you read the EAQ, which you very obviously didn't.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

I checked there, but there was no .log file. I was asking if there was another place one may have been generated, sorry if I mis-typed my sentence.

As for the problem, I have solved it now. There was an incompatibility with the latest forge build, so I backtracked to .803 and it worked.

I am thinking that something that was modified since then was required by the mod, hence the crash.

There is always a fucking log.

Give us that log. One more post without a log will get you banned permanently from the forum -.-

Nothing has changed compatibility wise for mods. There was a small change to coremods that used a BUG that used to be in our system.

If they used that then yes they will need to update as it was a unintended feature.

Seriouslydude.

You know the new launcher

How it has a big "development console' tab.

Ya.. that is the log we're talking out, OR you could even get the FML log from the folder -.-
