Posted September 1, 201312 yr I've been trying to install mods in minecraft 1.6.2 with forge 9.10.0.804, and it works fine when I add mods to the mods folder, but the ones that are supposed to go straight in the .jar file don't work. I've tried them without forge and with and without risugami's modloader and they work fine (except the ones that specifically require forge). the ones that I want to install so far that I can think of offhand are big trees, better villages, and village info. None of them work with forge, and while better villages doesn't work without it, the other two work fine together with or without risugami's modloader
September 1, 201312 yr Author by .jar I mean the renamed copy of 1.6.2 .jar I've tried it by adding forge manually and using the installer. And if I'm not supposed to edit the .jar, then where do the mods I mentioned above go?
September 2, 201312 yr Run this: http://files.minecraftforge.net/minecraftforge/minecraftforge-installer-1.6.2-9.10.0.846.jar Select 'install client' Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE! This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project. www.forgeessentials.com Don't PM me, I don't check this account unless I have to.
September 2, 201312 yr Author It still doesn't work when I select play on the launcher, the launcher disappears like it's supposed to, but the game doesn't come up, there's no error or crash screen, just nothing happens. even with the new version of Forge. As far as I know it should go in 1.6.2-Forge9.10.0.846 .jar, does forge add somewhere else for me to put the mods or does forge just not allow it anymore?
September 3, 201312 yr Well, use the "Forge" profile. Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE! This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project. www.forgeessentials.com Don't PM me, I don't check this account unless I have to.
September 4, 201312 yr We have never, and will never officially support anyone who edits base classes and requires there mods to go into the minecraft jar. This is one the MAIN reason Forge was created. To centralize all the base edits needed to once place so that no other mod had to do it. If there is however a mod out there that still edits the jar becuase Risugami's ModLoader doesn't provide the support they need. I would tell you to speak to the mod author and tell them to update to Forge. Everything that they want to do is either available from the modifications we do to MC directly, or can be applied without editing the jar with our coremod system. Either way we're not supporting ANY base editing mods. If you wanna use them, sorry you're screwed. They are the one who need to play nice with us. I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Consider supporting the team on Patreon
