How would I keep a dimension at midnight and maybe make the dimension darker than usual? Currently I am trying to do DimensionManager.getProvider(VoidMod.NullVoidDimID).setWorldTime(13000); every tick, but that is not working.

Although you can't change time directly per dimension, what you can do is overriding the calculateCelestialAngle method in your provider and return a value where it's midnight (idk the correct value for it right now)

This thread makes me sad because people just post copy-paste-ready code when it's obvious that the OP has little to no programming experience. This is not how learning works.

Override the calculateCelestialAngle method of your WorldProvider class,

and just return 0.75F every time.

So, It would look like this:

    public float calculateCelestialAngle(long par1, float par3)
    {
        return 0.75F;
    }

Does setting that keep the light levels and everything constant?

I have an always night dimension but had to do it in an odd way.  Created a custom skyrender and set the dimension to have no sky which gave a skylight level of zero.  Also adjust the gamma down on client when in that dimension.  Makes it downright evil.

Yes, it DOES keep them constant.

Since the Brightness in the minecraft day is from the SUN,

the light level is Highly Dependent to the position of the SUN.

If someone has the SUN stop, then the day-light cycle would gone in most world, even in minecraft.

Please do not neglect the Sky and the SUN,

and do not use the unreliable way.

There is nothing unreliable about how I did it.  Works very well, but I am interested in your method, it is easier.

Oh, sorry. I used improper word.

By the way, then you can use the method for your dimension, too.

It is far from any bugs, and I think this way is standard for those uses.

For the Gamma Question, you can change gamesettings on the client side.

In this case you need to pay attention to what their GAMMA was before you change it so you can change it back after they leave your dimension where you want it darker.  I usually track this with a TICK event.  A GAMMA of -0.5 makes it pretty challenging.

You also thought about when the player logs out / quits the game within the dimension and logs back in / load it up again and then they change the dimension?

If you want overall less light, override generateLightBrightnessTable in your provider and use the vanilla calculation, whereas multiply the end result with 0.8F or so (like

lightBrightnessTable[i] *= 0.8F

), which means 80% less overall light in your dimension (even block light).

Yeh, I have a default catch to set gamma back to a default in those cases as a fallback.

Lightlevel of zero is not dark enough for what I wanted.  If you just want light level of zero, don't mess with gamma.  If you want it to be pitchblack, then the only way I've found is Gamma.

The lightbrightness table is worth a shot.  Tried it once before and didn't give right effect.

Ok, I have made it so that is is always night, have lightbrightnesstable multiplied by 0.99F, there is no sky, set to be no sky, and it sets the player's gamma to -1F then on exit sets it back, because I am storing the player's previous gamma in nbt. Thanks everyone!
