First let me make it known that I know it is impossible to set the light level of a block to greater than 15 and have it work properly (that is, emit more light). But is it possible to 'slow down' the dissipation of light? That is, force the game to, with a certain block, set the light level like so:

Etc, etc, until it reaches nothing.

I'm almost positive I've seen something like this before in a mod a while back, but I can't remember for sure.

They accomplish this by creating fake air blocks that emit light.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

You would need fake light emitting blocks.

I don't recommend it.  Trying to clean them up correctly when placing/removing multiple light sources in near proximity would be problematic.

Hi

For sure it's possible, just use Reflection and ASM to modify the vanilla light propagation code; but it's not easy.  See World.checkLightFor().

Alright, so how do I do that? And is it possible to leave the vanilla torch the way it is but add a new torch that uses the new system?
