[1.10.2] Structure Gen / Flower Pots

Random question. I can't see to get filled Flower Pots to work in structure gen code I'm updating from 1.7.10 to 1.10. Other blocks that have meta data have no issues (e.g., Beds, Chests). But for some reason Pots always come up empty, no matter what I set the meta to.

this.setBlock(world, i + 3, j + 6, k + 2, Blocks.FLOWER_POT, 11);

public void setBlock(World world, int x, int y, int z, Block block, int metadata)
{
world.setBlockState(new BlockPos(x, y, z), (IBlockState) block.getStateFromMeta(metadata));
}

My guess is that it has something to do with 'CONTENTS' but my trail has run cold at this point.

The

BlockFlowerPot.CONTENTS

property isn't stored in the metadata, it's set by

BlockFlowerPot#getActualState

from the values stored in

TileEntityFlowerPot

.

After setting the block to

Blocks.FLOWER_POT

, you need to get the

TileEntity

from the

World

and call

TileEntityFlowerPot#setFlowerPotData

to set the contents.

Side note: Metadata should be considered an implementation detail, you shouldn't be calling

Block#getStateFromMeta

yourself. Instead, call

Block#getDefaultState

to get the default

IBlockState

and call

IBlockState#withProperty

to get an

IBlockState

with the appropriate property values.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

So, it acts like a Chest now, basically.

Has been for a while.  The only time it used metadata was when it was first added, until Mojang realized there were more than 15 plants and stored the extra in a TE, IIRC.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
