Hello!

I created an entity that attacks the player like any other monster. However I set it's movement speed to a low number as it is slow when it walks. I want it's movement speed to increase when the player (not on creative) comes in range of the mob similar to a ZombiePigMan however doesn't only happen after its hit. How would I do this?

When your mob has a target ie getAttackTarget() !=null set the speed.

Thanks! So I started doing this method however I'm not too sure what to call to increase the speed

Along the lines of this (taken from EntityZombie.class)

this.getEntityAttribute(SharedMonsterAttributes.FOLLOW_RANGE).applyModifier(new AttributeModifier("Random spawn bonus", this.rand.nextGaussian() * 0.05D, 1));

Just one other thing, not really related but how would I make this if statement only run once because at the moment the sound is continuously played until the entity no longer has an attack target.

if (this.getAttackTarget() != null)

        {

            this.playSound("mob.zombiepig.zpigangry");

Make it happen when attack target is set or create a boolean value that changes when it is null and is not null.

Make a boolean.  When it's true: play the sound and set it to false.
