Posted June 20, 20178 yr Do I have to put modid in unlocalized name of an item? Would there be any conflicts if I don't? For example: this.setUnlocalizedName("name") this.setUnlocalizedName(modid + ".name") I find the second line in many tutorials, but I don't really think it's necessary. June 20, 20178 yr It's not absolutely required, but it's a good idea to avoid potential conflicts. All unlocalised names are used as keys in the same Map, so your unlocalised name's translation could overwrite or be overwritten by the same name from another mod. I recommend using the Item's registry name (IForgeRegistryEntry#getRegistryName) as the unlocalised name as it already includes the mod ID. June 21, 20178 yr It only matters when some other mod happens to have same translation key as in your mod. Chance of this depends on an amount of mods played (still low chance in my opinion).
