[1.10.2] Event that fires when a player attempts to fly (hit space bar twice?)

Featured Replies

Hey,

I was just curious, is there an event that fires when the player attempts to fly (even if the player is on survival)?

Thanks! :)

Please stop saying things like this and calling replies "suggestions." The only place we *can* reply to is below and this adds nothing to your request for help. Calling what we post to help a "suggestion" or "ideas" makes you sound like a YouTuber begging for people to click the like button, that what we're doing is just offering an opinion, not giving needed aid.

I might be invoking a Stack Overflow-ism here, but it's noisy and gets in the way.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Sorry, mate, just should've informed me.

Pretty sure you can detect any key press using KeyInputEvent. See: http://jabelarminecraft.blogspot.com/p/minecraft-forge-1721710-keybinding.html. So you might be able to detect when the player uses space bar to fly.

Note: this is client side only.

It depends on what you're trying to do. I think there is a player capability called isFlying which is synced with the packet  CPacketPlayerAbilities. So as mentioned maybe you can handle the player tick event and check the isFlying capability.

Of course that would be any type of flying, so maybe there are cases that won't work for you.

But if you catch isFlying in the first tick it is happening, that might be good for what you're trying to do.

Thanks guys, I got it!

I just tested for the key bind twice by checking with int flags (the simple way out).
