Posted January 21, 20187 yr I'm iterating through the player inventory so I have a list of ItemStacks which I can get the block and the item. I need the blockstate of the blocks the player has in the inventory (if the item is a block), but seems like that Block#getStateFromMeta(int) returns the default state. How do I properly get an Item/Block BlockState?

How do I properly get an Item/Block BlockState? 1 In what context are you using this? Because doing Block.getBlockFromItem(item) and then Block#getStateFromMeta(int) should return the proper BlockState for that metadata. January 21, 20187 yr You shouldn't use getStateFromMeta. While that will probably work for most blocks (assuming you pass in the itemstack's metadata value), there's no real guarantee. You should use ItemBlock.getStateForPlacement (if I recall the method name correctly). Check the ItemBlock class. January 21, 20187 yr Author My objective is to change item stacks taking in consideration blockstate/meta (diorite, granite, for stone. Concrete colors, etc.), but using Item.setMaxStackSize works for every blockstate of the block

January 21, 20187 yr Author There's no way to do it for every single item with blockdata/meta? Edited January 21, 20187 yr by Insane96MCP

If you want to make vanilla diorite and granite have different maximum stack sizes, you will have to overwrite their items and override Item::getItemStackLimit(ItemStack). Exactly. So unless I overwrite the items, there's no way to set itemstack for each itemblock blockstate
