Forge 1.15.2 (31.1.46). Can't install mods for a specific minecraft version. Since I have several game versions in one folder - it's necessary. I could just move any mod to a folder with a version name before (e.g. mods/1.12.2/mod.jar) but now this doesn't work. Why is this removed (or what am I doing wrong)? I thought about moving different game versions to different folders but this consumes much more disk space for assets and so and this is also not that convinient (like simply creating version-specific mod folder)

That feature is removed, as launcher profile is a better way to separate different versions.

Well, how can I separate those versions without redownloading my assets folder and with keeping all my screenshots and saves in one place?

You don't.

The purpose of installations is to keep saves separate so they do not get loaded with different versions of the game, to avoid potential corruption.

Well, in my case - I use some client-side mods on the latest version (1.15.2) like minimap and hwyla just to make it more comfortable to play. So, this client won't ruin my saves and so on. I also use it to play on some vanilla servers. I use this client to play as well as I do on a vanilla one.

So, that's why I need to keep my saves, screenshots and so in the same folder with other game versions. Is it possible somehow? Or is there any possibility of returning this feature with version-specific mod folders back?

As far as I know, no, unless you manually change the installation settings prior to launch to change which version it launches with.

I'm not totally sure, I thought I saw Someone Of Importance say once that it's not, but I don't remember for sure, so maybe? You could always make a post in the suggestions forum! (or search it first to see if it's there already w/a response)

This feature will not be re-added.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Because it is 100% redundant.

If you really want things to be consistent across profiles, put them in separate folders and use symlinks
