I would like to change the duration of a day in the overworld with a dynamic variable.

The only thing I know is: The duration is only a fix integer in this method: WorldProvider#calculateCelestialAngle

Given that there is not currently a hook to do it, it would be impossible without doing things that get people banned because we're not supposed to talk about them here.  Also, if you're new to such things, you're almost certainly going to fuck things up, so I can't recommend it for that reason also.

The alternative is writing a Forge Pull Request on GitHub, inserting a hook.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

okey...?

Then I will stop and restart the daylight-circle every few ticks.

Or is this a bad idea?

Its not going to be to many things in the MC universe rely on day length.

And it's definitely NOT going to be a config.

If you want different length days create your own dimension.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

It can't be done in Forge atm.

Completely incorrect.

A custom WorldProvider for a custom dimension can do this easily.

With the DimensionManager, if that is the correct name (not at my pc atm) you can even re-register other dimensions. Bad practice, but entirely possible.

Should the PR be closed, then?

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

One way or another.  Lex has indicated it'll never get merged anyhow.
