Hello All,

With this new registration thing in forge that changed in 1.12, I have been a little confused and lost. What I need is the basic code to register and create items and blocks for minecraft Forge 1.12.

Ps I also need to know where textures of items and blocks go.

Thank you in advance.

Subscribe to the RegistryEvent#Register<T> event. The type should be the type you want to register (ItemBlock etc). Then use getRegistry#register(T) to register the item/block/etc. Choonster has an example here (although it's not the way I prefer doing it).

Forge's documentation has an explanation of registry events here.

Now where exactly do I put the texture(.png) files in Forge?

Forge's documentation explains that here.

Which version of Forge are you using? The logging of missing models was broken in Forge 1.12-14.21.0.2363 (commit dc043ac) and fixed in Forge 1.12-14.21.1.2390 (commit ede05a2).

Please create a Git repository of your mod on a site like GitHub and link it here. See my mod and its .gitignore file for an example of which files to include.

Do you do anything different when setting up the new forge environment.

No, just change the Forge version in build.gradle and re-run the setupDecompWorkspace task.

Does it make a file?

I tryed uploading pictured of the error in run tab but it failed.

The .gradle/gradle.log file in your mod's root directory should contain the output from the latest Gradle run.

You need to be connected to the internet for Gradle to download dependencies. Are you sure you're computer's connected to the internet when you run the Gradle task and is there any program (e.g. anti-virus) that could be blocking the connection?

Don't make mods if you don't know Java.

I did the command with --debug inside the intellij terminal and it says Error: Could not download ForgeGradle(net.minecraftforge.gradle:ForgeGradle:2.3-SNAPSHOT): No cached version available.

Is 2.4 snapshot out.

I let in through my firewall.

Post your code, any relevant JSON files and the FML log (logs/fml-client-latest.log in the game directory) using Gist or Pastebin.

Minecraft is trying to load your textures from the minecraft resource domain, where they don't exist. You need to specify your mod's resource domain, i.e. use "<modid>:<texture_path>" rather than just "<texture_path>".

In what file?

Wherever you specify the textures, in the model or the blockstates file.

Ok Do you have that part set up in your TestMod3?

Yes, every model that uses non-vanilla textures specifies the testmod3 resource domain for them.

    • So me and a couple of friends are playing with a shitpost mod pack and one of the mods in the pack is corail tombstone and for some reason there is a problem with it, where on death to fire the player will get kicked out of the server and the tombstone will not spawn basically deleting an entire inventory, it doesn't matter what type of fire it is, whether it's from vanilla fire/lava, or from modded fire like ice&fire/lycanites and it's common enough to where everyone on the server has experienced at least once or twice and it doesn't give any crash log. a solution to this would be much appreciated thank you!
    • It is 1.12.2 - I have no idea if there is a 1.12 pack
    • Okay, but does the modpack works with 1.12 or just with 1.12.2, because I need the Forge client specifically for Minecraft 1.12, not 1.12.2
    • Version 1.19 - Forge 41.0.63 I want to create a wolf entity that I can ride, so far it seems to be working, but the problem is that when I get on the wolf, I can’t control it. I then discovered that the issue is that the server doesn’t detect that I’m riding the wolf, so I’m struggling with synchronization. However, it seems to not be working properly. As I understand it, the server receives the packet but doesn’t register it correctly. I’m a bit new to Java, and I’ll try to provide all the relevant code and prints *The comments and prints are translated by chatgpt since they were originally in Spanish* Thank you very much in advance No player is mounted, or the passenger is not a player.
