Is there a way to create a single class to register similar blocks easily?
 

I'm creating a mod that contains slabs, but making a class file for each one is a very long and tedious task

What do you mean by making a class file?

Out of interest, are you using DeferredRegisters for this? :)

What? Why?

Clearly there's some fundamental property of a slab that makes it a slab (probably SlabBlock) and some mere data that differentiates one slab from another.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

i mean i always make a new class for each slab properties but i was wondering if there was any way for all the slabs to use the same properties without creating many classes

here's an example of a class

import net.minecraft.block.SoundType;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;

public class green_granite_slab extends SlabBlock {

    public green_granite_slab() {

Nope, only one. The double slab block is just a state.

Unfortunately it sounds like you were blindly following from one of the (rather terrible) tutorials on YouTube, and therefore do not understand how registering stuff actually works.

A class per registry entry is not necessary. All you need is an instance of Block to register a type of block. In this case, you should instantiate an instance of SlabBlock per slab you want, and register these instances.

I would also suggest reading the registry page on Forge's Documentation: https://mcforge.readthedocs.io/en/1.15.x/concepts/registries/
