I finally made it to work so there are different textures on the top or bottom. But how to make it so there are different textures on the front, back, and sides?

really... you can't think of any vanilla block which does this... none at all... hmm... if only there was a block which looked different on the sides so that you could copy the code from it... maybe a furnace or pumpkin or something... damn, if only minecraft had things like that.

Just to be a complete dick:

 

It isn't working for some reason.

public Icon getIcon(int side, int meta) {
	if (meta == 0 && side == 3)
		return iconFront;
	else
		return iconSide;
}

should do the trick, obviously you have to edit it to match your own block.
