CurseForge is the recommended site for mods. As for that error, you shouldn't need a JDK, a JRE should do. I'd recommend getting a Java 8 JRE from here, click here for a direct download of the MacOS version.

I worry every time someone says "the correct website" or "the official site" because many times they've had the wool pulled over their eyes by a malware peddler. What URL did you get the installer from? Can you provide a screenshot of the error? Also, just in case the issue is so simple, please note that when you click on a Forge download link you are taken to a site shows ads, on that page click NOTHING but the skip ad link that takes a few seconds to appear in the top right, everything else is ad.

I don't know for sure, I would assume it's because it works and is still supported by Oracle and OpenJDK as LTS

That's the installer log, and this tells me you have file explorer set to hide file extensions (which is the default setting). Are you able to access the Files site?

Forge has to be compatible with the version of Java that Mojang ships with the game, which is a painfully old version of Java 8.

The installer log is a text file that should be in the same location as the installer and should have the same name as the installer but with a .log on the end. Please provide that text file using one of the paste sites in my signature below.

You're trying to run 1.14.4 Optifine in 1.15.2, this isn't going to work.

Does it work without Optifine?

Ask the Optifine folks. Forge is open source, Optifine is not. It's on them to be compatible if they want to be.

What do you mean when you say you can't download Forge? and what does Lenovo have to do with this?
