Any tutorials for custom armor models in 1.14.4?
Ugdhar replied to Babelincoln1809's topic in Modder Support
What kind of issues? Logs help, screenshots also if it's something visual. If you have your code on github that makes it easier to share/debug with other people too. -
Ok, I think I see what you need to do, you need to put that in your FMLCommonSetupEvent , I believe using DeferredWorkQueue, because the biome stuff isn't threadsafe. If you search these forums for DeferredWorkQueue, I believe there's an example of how it's used. And the FMLCommonSetupEvent I believe is demonstrated in the examplemod that comes with the MDK.

You can use forge and mods on the Java edition of Minecraft even if your computer is running Windows 10. It does NOT work on the Windows 10/Bedrock version of Minecraft.
-
Well, you should have a basic-intermediate grasp of Java before starting modding, so you should be able to follow the code paths and see how features are set up. Think of what already happens in Minecraft that is similar to what you want to do, and look at the code for it. So find where, say, the flowers are setup in the plains biome or something like that.

I'm not sure about using IModel, I've never done that. When I was tinkering, the model I had just extended BipedModel<LivingEntity>. In the armor item class, used that model in the getArmorModel method. -
Check out vanilla code, it's super helpful net.minecraft.world.biome.DefaultBiomeFeatures is where it's at

I'm not sure, I haven't really used blockbench, so not sure what the model identifier represents -
1.11 is no longer supported due to age. Please update to a modern version to receive support here. More information on supported versions can be found in the LTS link at the top of every page.

Structures are generated using Features. https://gist.github.com/williewillus/353c872bcf1a6ace9921189f6100d09a has a lot of info on stuff that changed from 1.13+

Not 100% sure if it matters (I'm not a json guy really), but I thought for sure it was \n not /n for a newline.

[1.14.4] finished with non zero exit value 1

Googling "Unsupported class file major version 57" yields some results, and one comment caught my eye. Are you sure you're using Java 8? -
Is the installer generating a log? It would be in the same folder as the installer with the same name, but with .log at the end. If so, you should post it here. How long did you leave it running before you canceled it?

Here's another thread about it with some links for more information, have you checked it out? Found it by searching the forums for "global loot modifiers" https://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/topic/83204-1152-globallootmodifier-not-working/?tab=comments#comment-393325

No problem, and don't think if you get stuck you can't come ask for help, because of course you can! But dig through some vanilla code first, see if you can find examples, also searching the forums often yields great results. I was messing with custom shields for fun, and couldn't figure out why the texture wasn't working, and searching on here led me to the answer without having to make my own topic and ask
-
Did that fix it? Just curious Also, always check out what the parameters are for methods/constructors you call, never know when one of them is important, and sometimes ones that are, say, true for vanilla, mods might have to call false, so it's worth looking at.
-
You're not prefixing your item textures with your modid is a likely cause.
-
Scan vanilla code for something to drops an item. You should try looking a little more in the vanilla code, it's really useful and has lots of stuff to learn from/give ideas, I notice that you ask a lot of things without trying/looking first. You'd be surprised what you can accomplish if you check out existing code that does things similar to what you want I did a quick search in my IDE for something that calls ItemEntity and the LecternBlock popped up.
-
If you look at the LightningBoltEntity code, there's a lot of stuff that doesn't happen if effectOnly is true. I've never tried doing this myself, or messed with lightning, but that's the first thing I noticed when I looked at the vanilla code.

Minecraft Forge will not install
Ugdhar replied to [email protected]'s topic in Support & Bug Reports
Ok, that's good, since your downloads folder is right there. cd Downloads typing the above command will move you into the downloads folder, it should change the prompt to say C:\Users\cooks\Downloads> Then you can try typing the java -jar forge<TAB> again. -
Get what, the log? It will be in the logs folder of either the minecraft game directory, or if you're running from the IDE, it will be in the run folder in your project folder.

Post the new crashlog, or if it is the same, then you didn't actually recompile with java 8

set up own Valhelsia Minecraftserver - problems
Ugdhar replied to Ambriador's topic in Support & Bug Reports
So your problem is the JRE on your system defaulting to Java 11, forge doesn't choose it I'd say either completely remove Java 11, or specify the full path to Java 8 when starting the server. -
No problem, hopefully this dishonest server admin didn't fool you into giving away any information! I would report them to their server host, and stop playing on that server for sure.

Use java 8, higher versions aren't supported yet, I believe someone said it's due to a library forge uses still targeting Java 8.
