Dear Forge Admins,

I would really like to download Forge so I can use a mod.

However, when I go to the download link, McAfee Siteadvisor immediately warns me that the site is malicious. I could configure it to let me go through, but it doesn't make me feel good. If this computer gets infected with a virus, then much would be lost. I would really like to know if this is safe to download (since many play with mods).

Is there another non-AdFly download link? I don't care if it generates revenue or not, as long as it does not pose any threat to my computer (and thus me).

Thank you,

A Concerned Future User

P.S. If I do get Forge installed, is it possible to create two separate profiles - one for Vanilla Minecraft with absolutely no mods, and one for modded Minecraft?

no

Really dude, you come to a site for an open source project. That you could easily verify if it is malicious yourself {Yay power of being open source}

A project that is used by the majority of the MC modding community.

Really dude...

Also, that's some implacable logic 'Lets ask the site that I think is malicious if they are actively trying to be malicious'

These posts are just funny, But the simple answer is no, we're not. Some of Adf.ly's ads *might* be {if you download and install there crap}, but that's a risk with any ad service.

But you should be using a adblocker if you don't know how to only download things from site you trust.

It's also why we provide multiple links for every file {direct and adflyed}

Anyways, McAfee, and many other sites like that love to lower the ranking of sites, and then charge the web admins to remove those strikes.

Not to mention McAfee in itself is a fucking joke, it's sites/software are sloppily written, with exploits and security holes up the wazoo.

None of there actual advisor software actually works, hell they can't even poll a file from our servers to verify themselves correctly. {They blame it on the fact that we support BOTH ipv4 and ipv6, which confuses there scripts that were written 8 years ago -.-}

So what do I advise? Ditch McAfee get a real AV.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

I personally don't think that Forge itself is malicious, I just had the feeling that the ad.fly link is malicious. Sorry for any confusion.

With regards to my second question (the one about profiles) I'll just assume that the first answer was correct.

But where are the direct links to the installer found?

Thank you for helping me.

dear admins,

I’m 12. I really loved Minecraft Mods. Although they used to be Virus free and safe now they are making me scared. whenever I try to download forge it says: You Have Been Exposed to spyware and a warning tab comes up and it worries me. Should I #1: ignore the message and continue download or #2: Believe the message and close the Forge tab. plz help me I miss playing around with mods

Only download Forge from OUR web page: http://files.minecraftforge.net/

If you get it from our site its fine.

Now, sadly due to how the internet works, and the fact that this is free product, we use advertisements to make our money and pay the bills.

We try and keep all the shady 'this is a virus download our virus remover' ads away. But we can only get rid of the ones that are reported.

If you're still worried, we provide direct downloads for Forge on our site. So you can skip the ads.

As for downloading other mods, ONLY get them from the Minecraft Forums, Curse, or here. 90% of the results for 'minecraft mods' on google are spam/virus/crap infested sites that steal mods from us and exploit you kids. Its sick and annoying but welcome to the internet -.-

yeah I'm having a similar problem, my antivirus keeps deleting the installer due to either poor reputation or it detects malware. would love to get forge installed but I trust my antivirus and will not be downloading forge until they announce a fix.

1. Please do not necro old threads.

2. You would be better off to just disable your anti-virus temporarily and download Forge.

Some tips:

Modder Support:

1. Do not follow tutorials on YouTube, especially TechnoVision (previously called Loremaster) and HarryTalks, due to their promotion of bad practice and usage of outdated code.

2. Always post your code.

3. Never copy and paste code. You won't learn anything from doing that.

Programming via Eclipse's hotfixes will get you nowhere

5. Learn to use your IDE, especially the debugger.

Support & Bug Reports:

Spoiler

1. Read the EAQ before asking for help. Remember to provide the appropriate log(s).

2. Versions below 1.11 are no longer supported due to their age. Update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support.

    • It is 1.12.2 - I have no idea if there is a 1.12 pack
    • Okay, but does the modpack works with 1.12 or just with 1.12.2, because I need the Forge client specifically for Minecraft 1.12, not 1.12.2
    • Version 1.19 - Forge 41.0.63 I want to create a wolf entity that I can ride, so far it seems to be working, but the problem is that when I get on the wolf, I can’t control it. I then discovered that the issue is that the server doesn’t detect that I’m riding the wolf, so I’m struggling with synchronization. However, it seems to not be working properly. As I understand it, the server receives the packet but doesn’t register it correctly. I’m a bit new to Java, and I’ll try to provide all the relevant code and prints *The comments and prints are translated by chatgpt since they were originally in Spanish* Thank you very much in advance No player is mounted, or the passenger is not a player.
