Nothing there says it's crashing, can you provide your launcher_log.txt from your .minecraft folder?

There's nothing there that gives me a hint to anything going wrong other than the game stopping abruptly, what's going wrong?

Just because you have Java 8 installed does not mean it's your computer's first choice of Java. Either use the full path of the java binary/executable instead of just invoking java, or uninstall all other versions of Java.
